Postpartum Essentials List: Everything I've Been Using the Last Couple of Weeks

postpartum essentials list

Hi mamas! I have seen lots of requests to share my postpartum favorites and I thought posting them here on the blog would be the most organized way to do that. I have been living in these items/using them regularly since Bodie was born.

I can’t recommend these things enough but I know that each pregnancy and postpartum phase is so uniquely different. If you have an item you swear by for postpartum, please let me know!

Whether you’re looking for the best postpartum essentials list for new moms or you’re restocking some items for your second pregnancy, consider this your go-to guide.

Also, remember to have grace for yourself during this phase. You’re doing your best and you just brought a new, precious life into this world. You’ve got this!

Pajama Set

I wore these pajamas in the hospital (you can see them on me in the first picture in this post) and I think they’re so cozy.

Seamless Nursing Bras

These nursing bras were such a great Amazon find. I love that they’re seamless and feel similar to a sports bra.

Postpartum Belly Wrap

I used this right after giving birth to help my tummy go down. This one has built-in boning to support your lower back.

Frida Mom Ice Maxi Pads

These are far from glamorous but not much about postpartum is (ha). They’re a lifesaver if you have any tearing from labor.

Earth Mama Nipple and Diaper Cream

This nipple balm really helps avoid any scabbing and the ingredients are so good! It also doubles as the best balm for chapped lips.

L. Organic Cotton Maxi Pads

If you have any postpartum bleeding, these pads are great! I love that they’re chlorine free and that they don’t contain dyes.

Hilma Bowel Movement Supplement

It can be hard to go to the bathroom after labor, don’t fret! These Hilma supplements are great for loosening stool.

Witch Hazel Pads

You’ll probably use these at the hospital and they are also great for at home! I put them on top of my pads and they help cool and heal. They relieve irritation and help your swollen tissue.

Heating Pad

This has been my go-to heating pad for years now but I find it especially useful during the first few months postpartum. There are a bunch of different heat and timer settings so you can customize it to suit your needs.

Pure Epsom Salt

Is there anything better than that first bath post pregnancy? I’ve always been a fan of epsom salt for a clean, non-toxic soak.

Belly Oil

I used this belly oil throughout my pregnancy and plan to use it for the unforeseeable future. The smell is light and delightful and it absorbs into your skin perfectly. I use it all over my body!

Sunflower Lecithin

I have been very lucky with a high milk supply this time around. I’ve been taking this supplement to help encourage a healthy flow and to prevent clogged ducts.

Silver Fern Probiotic

It’s always a good idea to incorporate a probiotic into your routine but it’s especially crucial that you do post-pregnancy. This is the brand I use.

C Section Underwear

These underwear are perfect for fitting large pads and they also add a little compression. They’re comfy and good to wear 24/7 the first couple weeks.

Socks, Eye Mask, and Scrunchie Set

Having some cozy socks and an eye mask during your time in the hospital is a game changer. This little set would also make such a cute gift for a new mama.

Nursing Pads

These nursing pads are perfect and reusable! Just slip them in your bra to catch all the leakage and keep your clothes clean. Trust me, you need them.

Breastfeeding Cooling Gel Pads

For the first couple weeks your nipples are getting used to breastfeeding so these cooling pads feel great in between feeds!

Breastmilk Storage Bags

I’ve been using these to store extra milk in the freezer and I have been impressed with the quality.

Medela Manual Breast Pump

If you want to have a manual breast pump, I’d highly recommend this one! I use this throughout the day.

Medela Electric Breast Pump

And for an electric pump, I like this one! Does the job and it isn’t too pricey.

Maternity and Nursing Pajama Set

A highlight of postpartum? Having an excuse to lounge around in cozy clothes all day. This set from Amazon is under $40 and comes in a bunch of colors.

Shearling Fur Slippers

These slippers are another Amazon find that I’m so glad I came across. They’re the perfect dupe for UGGs at a fraction of the price.
